Rink Hockey For Dummies

One of the best kept secrets in the United States is one of the most well known sports in many other parts of the world. It is not a new game, its origins dating back to Persia 4,000 years ago. The U.S. has produced competitive teams in this traditional form of roller hockey since the 1800’s. There were even famous silent film stars, such as Stan Laurel and Charlie Chaplin, playing on teams in the early 1900’s. Over 60 Countries have Rink Hockey programs.

While the majority of our youth are getting involved in American football and baseball, popular only on our Continent, the majority of European, Latin American and South American youngsters are playing soccer and “Rink Hockey.” In recent years, with the advent of the modern inline roller skate, there has been a form of the game played on the streets, in parks, and arenas in various areas of the Country, but that is NOT the hockey of which I write.

France Wins 2012 Ladies Rink Hockey World Championships


France Wins Ladies World Cup
 A talented and determined Ladies Team from France defeated the Spanish Ladies Team 3-2 in the final game of the 11th Ladies Rink Hockey World Championships in Recife, Brazil. Although they led 2-0 at one point, Spain battled back and tied the game but the French were able to score one more time for the victory. Congratulations Ladies!

The Final Placements for the 2012 Ladies Rink Hockey World Championships are: 1. France, 2. Spain,
3. Colombia, 4.Portugal, 5. Germany, 6. Chile, 7. Argentina, 8. Brazil, 9. Switzerland, 10. USA, 11. Japan, 12. Uruguay, 13. England, 14. India.
